{"id":37,"date":"2011-03-06T22:49:41","date_gmt":"2011-03-06T21:49:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fischerarchaeology.se\/?page_id=37"},"modified":"2011-03-22T08:26:10","modified_gmt":"2011-03-22T07:26:10","slug":"iron-age","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.fischerarchaeology.se\/?page_id=37","title":{"rendered":"Iron Age"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The Iron Age (c. 1200-600 BCE)<\/h2>\n<p>A decline of the people&#8217;s economic status can be seen through the finds belonging to the next major settlement at Tell Abu al-Kharaz belonging to the Iron Age, starting around 1200 BC. It was a period of wars caused mainly by the so-called &#8220;Sea-peoples&#8221; and the Philistines invading Palestine. More coarse pottery and no imported materials are typical for that period. The city wall from the Iron I period indicates a continuing need for defensive systems, and the architectural remains from the Iron II period includes towers and well built houses whose people again imported goods from the eastern Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_754\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-754\" class=\"size-full wp-image-754\" title=\"1_rooms_main_kharaz\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fischerarchaeology.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1_rooms_main_kharaz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"242\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.fischerarchaeology.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1_rooms_main_kharaz.jpg 640w, http:\/\/www.fischerarchaeology.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/1_rooms_main_kharaz-300x113.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-754\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Four s.c. 4-room houses from Area 7 at Tell Abu al-Kharaz.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Among the finds from the Iron Age II period is an exquisite decorated bone handle with a motif of two sphinxes.
