Glueck, have claimed that Tell Abu al-Kharaz is identical with the Biblical town of Jabesh Gilead. Jabesh Gilead is mentioned frequently in the Old Testament &#8211; in the books of Samuel, the Chronicles and Judges &#8211; amongst other events in connection with king Saul&#8217;s and king David&#8217;s battles against the Philistines and Ammonites which may correspond to 10 century BCE. Jabesh Gilead is also king Saul&#8217;s original burial place according to Samuel.
